Ontario’s Occupational Health and Safety Act defines a worker as “a person who performs work or supplies services for monetary compensation.” In Ontario, workers are required to complete a basic occupational health and safety awareness training program as soon as is reasonably possible. The purpose of this course is to fulfill that regulatory requirement under the Occupational Health and Safety Awareness and Training Regulation.

New and existing workers within Ontario workplaces.
Course Outline
Upon completion of this course, participants will:
- Be familiar with the Occupational Health and Safety Act
- Know the rights and responsibilities of workers under the Occupational Health and Safety Act
- Be familiar with the responsibilities of Employers and Supervisors under the Act – and how these responsibilities support workers
- Understand the role of the worker within the Internal Responsibility System
- Be knowledgeable regarding the three rights of workers and how they are implemented in the workplace
- Be aware of the worker’s role in hazard recognition and reporting
- Understand the value of workplace policies and procedures, training, posters and other preventative measures
- Be familiar with the various sources of health and safety information
- Understand the importance of healthy and safe work habits.
